A tribute to the gravel of the Hudson River, which gave the brand its name. The Hudson River – powerful, vibrant, and unstoppable. This fragrance captures its dynamism: The freshness of bergamot and geranium evokes the crisp breeze over the water, while lavender, coriander, and cardamom add depth and spice.

The base notes of tonka bean, vanilla, cedarwood, and precious woods create a warm, long-lasting presence that lingers. A fragrance that won't be overlooked, but leaves an impression – just like New York itself. For those who show character and value a lasting impression.

An unmistakable signature

distinguishes the SIGNATURE COLLECTION. Unique and charismatic – like its creator, Michael B. Knudsen (born 1911), who traveled from Europe to New York and pursued his American dream by founding the GRAVEL brand with A MAN'S COLOGNE.

Since Michael Knudsen sold his first bottle on 46th Street in New York, he has spent decades in the American metropolis developing perfume concepts that remain unsurpassed to this day.

Fragrance notes

Extracted from the peel of the unripe bergamot fruit by cold pressing, bergamot essential oil is characterized by a fresh, tangy, tart, and fruity scent.

Essential geranium oil, or pelargonium oil, is extracted from the leaves of scented pelargoniums and their various species, especially the rose geranium (Pelargonium graveolens). The fragrance has a green, slightly rose-like scent with fruity undertones. Geranium is used in rose perfumes, chypre, fougère, and other perfume creations.

Lavender oil is obtained through distillation. Depending on the variety, lavender smells fresh, balsamic-sweet, or herbaceous with woody-floral notes. The fragrance is often used in fresh perfumes, colognes, and summer fragrances. Fougère fragrances (lavender, bergamot, geranium) in particular utilize the aroma of this purple plant.

It is extracted from the fruits of the coriander plant. The essential oil is characterized by a spicy-floral scent and is often used in perfumery in floral, green and chypre fragrances.

Cardamom essential oil is obtained from the seeds or fruits through steam distillation. It has a fresh, spicy, and aromatic scent.

The fragrance is extracted from the tonka bean. It has a sweet, heavy note and is also used in cooking. The scent of tonka beans is warm, with light caramel notes, and is often used in balsamic, masculine fragrances.

The vanilla pods are harvested and fermented. The familiar brown sticks then develop the characteristic vanillin. This sweet, warm, spicy aroma is one of the most popular fragrances in perfumes.

There are different types of cedarwood oil from various origins. In perfumery, almost exclusively oils from the Atlas cedar, Virginia cedar, and Texas cedar are used. The fragrance has a long-lasting, aromatic, woody-sweet scent. Cedarwood is frequently used as a complementary component in woody, chypre, fougère, and tobacco fragrances.
