A Man's Cologne

has remained true to itself and its unique fragrance concept since its first launch in New York in 1957. Quality down to the smallest detail makes GRAVEL A Man's Cologne a unique perfume experience. Each bottle has always been filled by hand, using only the highest quality ingredients. The gravel in each bottle is that "special something" that gives the fragrance a warm color note over the aging process and rounds off the perfume.

This complex fragrance is influenced by a fresh citrus top note. Woody and balsamic components are paired with spices and a hint of incense, giving the perfume a distinctive touch. GRAVEL New York 1957 is available only in select boutiques.

An unmistakable signature

distinguishes the SIGNATURE COLLECTION. Unique and charismatic – like its creator, Michael B. Knudsen (born 1911), who traveled from Europe to New York and pursued his American dream by founding the GRAVEL brand with A MAN'S COLOGNE.

Since Michael Knudsen sold his first bottle on 46th Street in New York, he has spent decades in the American metropolis developing perfume concepts that remain unsurpassed to this day.

Fragrance notes

Extracted from the peel of the unripe bergamot fruit by cold pressing, bergamot essential oil is characterized by a fresh, tangy, tart, and fruity scent.

It is extracted from the peels of oranges. The oil is fruity – sweet, orangey.

There are two types of patchouli: Indian patchouli (Pogostemon cablin) and Javanese patchouli (Pogostemon heyneanus). The essential oils are extracted from the dried leaves and have a heavy, long-lasting fragrance that is herbaceous, woody, earthy, and balsamic. Slightly sweet notes also cling to the perfume oils.

The fragrance is extracted from the tonka bean. It has a sweet, heavy note and is also used in cooking. The scent of tonka beans is warm, with light caramel notes, and is often used in balsamic, masculine fragrances.

A fragrance obtained from the resin of the benzoin tree by tapping the bark and collecting the oozing resin. The essential oil is extracted from the resin. The aroma is sweet and balsamic.

The resin of the frankincense tree is obtained through a long and elaborate process. The resin possesses spicy, balsamic, and warm fragrance notes. It has been used for healing and spiritual purposes for thousands of years.

This tropical sweetgrass originates from Asia. Its essential oil is extracted from the roots through steam distillation. The scent is citrusy and woody.

As a component of perfumes, it imparts a sweet, animalistic scent. Today, it is produced almost exclusively synthetically.
