Meet the artist

Dylan Dons work is set in a sun-drenched world full of color. Having grown up in gray, monochrome Bavaria, he succumbed to the rich tones and dazzling light of Los Angeles. Vibrant backdrops, retro Americana, opulent hotel interiors, and dizzying infinity pools characterize his color-drenched images.

Behind the Scenes

In this image, photographer Dylan Don captures the legendary Mulholland Drive. Amidst the heat and asphalt, life finds its way. Plants in vibrant red, glowing orange, and cool green hold their own against dust and asphalt.
For Dylan Don, they are a symbol of Los Angeles itself, bringing bright colors and life to an inhospitable environment. Sun and shadow, rich interplay of colors and gray asphalt – city and wilderness collide here, captured in a single moment.

Los Angeles, Between Dust and Bloom

Opened with muscadele sage and nutmeg in precise aromatic tension, brightened by mandarin and the warm radiance of saffron. Smoky frankincense and supple leather drape over it like heat over asphalt. Haitian vetiver grounds the composition with a dry yet vibrant depth. Sandalwood, musk, and amber leave an elegant trail: intimate, understated, magnetic.

- Mark Buxton, Master Perfumer

  • Bergamot

Obtained from the peel of the bergamot fruit by cold pressing. Smells fresh, zesty, and clearly citrusy with a fine, tart bitterness. More elegant and drier than orange, very invigorating and modern.
  • Clary Sage

Obtained from the flowering tops of clary sage by steam distillation. It has a herbal, aromatic scent with a soft, hay-like sweetness and a warm, slightly ambery undertone. Rounder and more delicate than common sage, soothing yet refined.
  • Tangerine

Fruity, soft, and juicy with a mild, sweet citrus freshness. Softer than lemon, more playful than bergamot. Reminiscent of freshly peeled mandarin with a sunny lightness.
  • Vetiver

Dry, green, and woody with subtly smoky, earthy facets. Elegant, clear, and masculine with natural freshness. Reminiscent of roots, grass, and cool earth after rain.
  • Ambergris

Warm, soft, and golden with a resinous-sweet depth. Sensual, round, and enveloping without being obtrusive. Evokes warm skin, resins, and long-lasting elegance.
  • Musk

Soft, clean, and intimate with a warm sensuality. Powdery to creamy, subtle, and very pleasant in the dry-down. Creates the impression of well-groomed skin and gentle warmth.
  • Sandalwood

Creamy, soft, and warm woody with milky smoothness. Smoother and rounder than many other woods, elegant and comforting in character. Imparts a luxurious, velvety depth to fragrances.
  • Nutmeg

Spicy, warm, and subtly sweet with a dry, aromatic depth. Cozy and elegant in character. Reminiscent of fine spices and gentle winter warmth.
  • Saffron

Warm and spicy with a dry, slightly leathery depth. Elegant, exotic, and very characterful without being loud. Lends luxury, excitement, and golden warmth to fragrances.
  • Leather

Dry, warm, and distinctive with smoky, slightly spicy facets. Powerful, noble, and stylish in character. Reminiscent of fine leather, luxurious handbags, or an elegant interior.
  • Cedar

Dry, clear, and woody with a clean, slightly resinous freshness. Straightforward, elegant, and calm in character. Reminiscent of freshly worked wood with natural warmth and subtle depth.
